The
courses available from Albert are aimed at the complete novice
through to the more experienced, but more advanced or specialised
courses can be arranged. To be fair to the students numbers are
limited to a maximum of two per course giving a better chance
for a one to one tuition programme although up to four students
can be accommodated for special cases.
- In Albert’s own words -
“The basic program begins at 0900hrs with an introduction
to the lathe, tools and associated equipment. The correct and
safe methods of working and the all-important methods of sharpening
tools are covered. Various finishes, method of holding work to
the lathe, health and safety issues. My experience will also assist
in the selection of tools and equipment I can save you the cost
of the course merely by advising what not to buy. The first morning
is taken up by wasting wood, learning how to use the tools then
in the afternoon the projects begin each logically moving on to
the next lesson. The first day is spent primarily working between
centres and the following day incorporates all that we have learnt
moving on to face plate work. The amount of projects are dictated
purely by the speed of progress. If you’re really quick
you can put me out of business!
Lunch is provided each day and you will find yourself working
in a comfortable and well-equipped workshop".
